Error messages also come in your chosen dialect, making debugging more natural and fun!

Examples of the same error in different dialects:

# Antwerps
Manneke, gij zijt 'amen' vergeten op lijn 5!

# West-Vlaams
Jansen, ge zijt 'amen' vergeten op lijn 5!

# Limburgs
Jongen, ge hebt 'amen' vergete op lijn 5!

# Brussels
Jongens, gij zijt 'amen' vergeten op lijn 5!
💡 Note

The error dialect is determined by the command you use. If you run plats smos (Antwerps REPL), you'll get Antwerps error messages.

Why Multi-Vlaams?

Flanders has rich linguistic diversity with distinct dialects across regions. Multi-Vlaams celebrates this diversity by:

  • Inclusivity - Developers from different regions can code in their native dialect
  • Accessibility - Lower barrier to entry for Flemish speakers from different regions
  • Fun Factor - Programming should be enjoyable, and using your natural dialect makes it more engaging
  • Cultural Preservation - Helps preserve and document Flemish dialects in a modern context
  • Educational Value - Learn about different Flemish dialects while programming
🎯 Fun Fact

The Multi-Vlaams feature was inspired by real conversations with Flemish developers who wanted to "spreken like wij spreken" (speak like we speak) while coding.
